Freezing Weather Cuts Electric Car Range in Half

Uh oh.

Well this is embarrassing. When the weather gets cold electric cars suffer from shrinkage. Of their driving range, that is. AAA conducted tests on the 2013 Nissan Leaf, 2012 Mitsubishi iMiEV, and electric 2014 Ford Focus and found that their average range dipped from 105 miles at 75 degrees to just 43 miles at 20 degrees

This could be bad for electric car manufacturers as they try and push EVs to the next level. As we've seen this winter especially, the United States gets cold as shit. A car that only goes half as far when it's frigid outside just isn't going to cut it. Given that this study only included three cars, we'd like to see testing on more models.
