There is no doubt that in America we love our trucks, but having a high fuel bill isn’t exactly something to proud of. Enter the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, perhaps the quickest selling pickup ever.

The 3.0L EcoDiesel option was added to the Ram 1500 lineup this year, with the first allocation going up for purchase on February 7.  Less than three days later, the entire 8,000-unit order had been filled; accounting for an all-time high special-order rate, twice that of the corporate average.

The EcoDiesel delivers 28 miles to the gallon on the highway, which is pretty incredible for a full-size, half-ton truck. Staggering even, considering there were small Dodge Neon’s in the ’90s that could do much worse.
