Last year, Mike Newman broke Guinness' Land Speed Record for a blind person in a Porsche 911 GT2 at an eye watering 186 miles per hour. This year he plans to give it another go, setting his sights on cracking the 200 mph barrier.

Newman has teamed up with Litchfield Motors to help him raise the bar once again, but one thing is for certain – he’s going to need a faster car. While quite quick, a 911 GT2 doesn’t have enough oomph to break the 200 mph mark at any of Great Britain’s open airstrips, which are desired for allowing Newman a space big enough to safely achieve the speed with adequate runoff area.

There is no word yet on what vehicle he’ll use for this next attempt, but seeing as Litchfield Motors is one of Europe’s top tuners of the Nissan GT-R, it looks to be the clear choice. A GT-R with a boosted four-digit horsepower figure should do nicely.

Newman has already set five Guinness World records, including the Blind Motorcycle Land Speed Record at 175 mph and the World Blind Aerial Aerobatic Record. He's a daredevil that hasn't let a disability affect his passion.
