After Chevy put out the Colorado in Los Angeles, GMC took its turn in Detroit, debuting the all-new Canyon, completing a truck lineup that looks like it would give you a wedgie and take your lunch money.
Everybody is on the compaact trend, andthe truck segment is no different. More and more people are going for the smaller engines in the bigger trucks in attempts to maximize fuel efficiency. Now, they'll have an entirely different decision of whether they REALLY need a gigantic full-size pickup. Joining the Nissan Frontier, the Toyota Tacoma and the Colorado, the Canyon instantly becomes the segment's best-looking model and will have a more refined experience than the others, as well. It's going to cost more than the others, so that's no surprise.
Under the hood will be your choice of either a 2.5L I4 with 193 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque or a 3.6L V6 with 302 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Even more exciting is a Duramax 2.8L turbodiesel engine coming in 2016. This truck will have a payload of 1,450 pounds and can trailer at least 6,700 pounds.
As for the length of the bed, you can choose between an extended cab with a six-foot bed, a crew cab with a five-foot bed, or a crew cab with a six-foot bed. That'll all be rolling on your choice of 16-, 17-, or 18-inch wheels.
