Good news, guys. South Carolina defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney learned a very valuable lesson earlier this month when he got pulled over for driving 110 mph in a 70-mph zone. He learned that he needs to slow the $^%& down. However, there's some bad news, too. He apparently hasn't learned how to slow down enough just yet.
Yesterday morning, Clowney was pulled over in Columbia, S.C. and ticketed again for speeding. Fortunately, he wasn't going 110 mph this time. But he was clocked doing 84 mph in a 55-mph zone, which earned him a $445 speeding ticket and could end up costing him his license. In South Carolina, the state can suspend your license once you accumulate 12 points on your driving record. And since both of Clowney's speeding tickets are worth six points since he was caught doing more than 25 mph over the speed limit on both occasions, he could lose his license if he pleads guilty to both driving infractions.
We're sure that Clowney will hire a lawyer and find a way to get out of the suspension. But it's pretty clear that he needs to slow down when he's on the road. And he also might want to take some advice from his head coach Steve Spurrier.
"He needs to go to driving school, doesn't he?" Spurrier said yesterday after he heard about Clowney's latest ticket. "At least he'll have enough money to pay for it a week or so from now. He needs to go to driving school. Hopefully they'll send him there after the bowl game."
Hopefully. For the sake of all the other drivers down there in South Carolina, Clowney could sure use a lesson or two.
