Anything that involves an unconscious police officer and a drug bust probably qualifies as a terrible start to the semester. Five football players from the Division-II Minot State University can probably vouch for that.

Four players got arrested for misdemeanor drug charges, which is light compared to what the fifth player got charged with. Linebacker Jesse Ili attempt to flee the arrest got tagged with an attempted murder charge.

Ili decided to fight the officers when they caught up to him. The altercation got so bad that one of the two officers chasing him got knocked unconscious, while the other suffered minor injuries. Both are recovering from the brawl.

Ili—who transfered to Minot State from Fresno State—and the four players got suspended from the university.
