Devin Hester Says He Already Has One Foot in the NFL Hall of Fame

Too soon?

Is there a place in the NFL Hall of Fame for a player who has solely made a name for himself off of returning kickoffs and punt returns for touchdowns? Devin Hester thinks so. In fact, in an interview with Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Tribune, Hester said that with his return game stats so far, he's already got one foot in the Hall already, he's practically got his name on the wall already. Word to Jay Z. Peep the quote in its entirety below.

“I have one foot in right now,” Hester said, via Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Tribune. “If I take three or four back this year, it should be considered 80 percent chance of making it. But I am not really worried about it right now. I am really focused on this season. After this season, when all the stats add up, hopefully it won’t be a question.”

Hmm. So far, there has only been one special teams player to make it to the HOF and it was kicker Jan Stenerud. Clearly, it's going to be a climb for Hester, but with 12 touchdowns through kickoffs, punts and a missed field goal and possibly more once this upcoming season is finished, maybe he can defy the odds and get a bust of his own when his playing days are done. Still, the one foot in the Hall of Fame seems a bit much, don't you think? Let us know how you feel in the comment section.
