The Next Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is Going to Be a Hybrid GT-R Rival

It's going to be a cool car, but we'll miss the Evo as it was meant to be.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has been a go-to for rally racers and people who just want an amazing sports car that can easily handle day-to-day life since 1992. Sadly, for those of us who don't have six figures to drop on a car, this Evo is about to go extinct.

In its place will be a 500 horsepower, hybrid Evolution based on the company's recent efforts at Pikes Peak that will compete directly with the Nissan GT-R. Yeah, expect a price tag just North of $100,000. While we do think it's cool that the Evo, rather than being a reminder of the fact that Mitsu no longer rallies, is evolving to reflect the company's current motorsports endeavors, we're also sad to see one of the better options for enthusiasts without trust funds go away. There's always the Subaru WRX.
