On Tuesday, during Stage 10 of the 2013Tour de France, British cyclist Mark Cavendish was at the center of a crash involving Dutch cyclist Tom Veelers. And apparently, a Tour de France fan was not happy with the way he conducted himself during the accident. So earlier today, during the 11th stage of the race, that fan hurled a bottle of urine—yes, a bottle of urine—at Cavendish. At the moment, it's unclear who the fan is. But Cavendish was obviously not happy about the incident.
"Mark is sad," Cavendish's Omega Pharma-Quick Step cycling team manager Patrick Lefevere said after the stage ended. "He's not upset, just sad. I cannot blame anyone. There are 100,000 or 200,000 people on the road, and one person decided to do this. He can maybe have a handshake tomorrow morning with Tom Veelers if he agrees with this. This case has to be closed."
Yeah, we would say so. It's all fun and games until someone is covered in urine. Let's hope this is the last we hear of Cavendish and Veelers' feud.
