When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Donovan McNabb with the No. 2 overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, the fans didn't really welcome the selection with open arms. However, over time, McNabb proved that he was a better choice than the guy the Eagles faithful wanted at the time: Ricky Williams. While one of the major knocks against McNabb is that he was never able to get Philly to the mountaintop, the six-time Pro Bowler did manage to lead the team to five NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl appearance in 2005.
Tomorrow morning, McNabb will hold a press conference announcing his retirement from the NFL as a member of the Eagles. After two years away from the game, McNabb will return to the place where the love-hate, well mostly hate, relationship with the fans all began. No word yet on the official day when he will be honored with a ceremony, but there are rumors that it may be on September 19 when the team faces off against the Kansas City Chiefs and McNabb's former head coach, Andy Reid.
