It's Official: Aston Martin Will Start Using AMG Engines

More power and more efficiency for the English marque.

Rumors have been circulating for months that Aston Martin was working on cutting some sort of deal with Mercedes-Benz AMG, but now there has been an official confirmation: the next generation of Aston Martin cars will be built using AMG powertrain components and electronics. Some may complain that they'll miss the "British" V12s, but we'd remind them that those British V12s are actually tuned Ford Duratecs. Don't call that V12 "two Mondeo engines bolted together" though, because Aston's employees have informed me that said statement will incite violence.

What Aston does have to gain from this partnership is more power, better specific output, more efficiency, hopefully much, much more precise transmissions, and world class electronics. The real question is, will Aston move ot an all V8 range, or will the company commission V12s from AMG like Pagani does. Hell, we wouldn't be surprised to see a Vanquish rocking the same engine as the Pagani Huayra.

Basically, we think this is going to be the dawn of a golden age for Aston.
