Ouch.

If the San Francisco 49ers are going to make another trip to the Super Bowl next season, they're going to have to do it without one of their biggest weapons. Although the Niners haven't made an official announcement just yet, a team source told USA Today that 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree tore his Achilles tendon during organized team activities on Tuesday and will likely miss the entire 2013-14 NFL season. The source also revealed that Crabtree is set to have surgery on his Achilles soon.

If the news is true, there is a chance that Crabtree could work his way back into the Niners lineup sometime towards the end of the season. Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggstore his Achilles before the 2012-13 NFL season and made a midseason return. But it's unlikely that he would have the same kind of impact he had during the Niners' Super Bowl run last season. So the Niners will probably have to try and sign or trade for a replacement for him.

It sucks to see Crabtree's season end before it ever really got started. We wish him a speedy recovery.
