In case you didn't know, Brittney Griner is really good. No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft good. PossibleNBA draft pick good. Baylor can easily boast about Griner's accomplishments, but her sexual orientation had to be kept on the low during her four years at the school.
Griner told ESPNthat Kim Mulkey, Baylor's women's basketball head coach, told the team to keep its sexuality secret to prevent it from potentially hurting the program's recruiting efforts. Griner said: "The coaches thought that if it seemed like they condoned it, people wouldn't let their kids come play for Baylor."
Apparently, homosexuality is also considered "Sexual Misconduct" under the university's "Statement on Human Sexuality," which says:

The center also revealed that she had been open about her homosexuality with her relatives from her first year of high school and outright told Mulkey when she recruited Griner.
Mulkey didn't respond to Griner's comments, but Baylor said in a statement "Brittney Griner represented Baylor University proudly on and off the basketball court, and she leaves behind an incredible legacy. I cannot comment on personal matters surrounding any of our student-athletes, but I can tell you Brittney will always be a celebrated member of the Baylor family."
Hopefully, that's what future recruits see.
