2013 is a big year in cars. Aston Martin turns 100. Lamborghini turns 50. And, in Germany, the iconic Porsche 911 hits the big 5-0 too.

Plans to celebrate the 911, which debuted at the 1963 Frankfurt Auto Show, include a retrospective exhibition at the official Porsche museum in Stuttgart, world tour, and (drool) a special edition 50th anniversary sports car. The auto is likely to see light of day (fittingly) at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. An original 1967 911 will hit the road, visit all five continents, and make appearances at Pebble Beach and Goodwood.

Seems a bit too subtle, but will see if things progress to a more aggressive roll out as the year progresses.
