Yesterday, Jalopnik published a photo of the new Jeep Cherokee coming off the production line before Chrysler has actually unveiled the car. This was closely follwed by the ahead of schedule release of some official Jeep Cherokee photos.

Design-wise, it has already polarized Twitter, with some people loving the new design, and others thinking it looks like a squinty-eyed, lemon-sucking Jeep. We think it does look a bit off, but overall we like it. It's a ballsy move on Chrysler's part, and we much prefer interesting to boring.

The one thing we're worried about is that it is based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta-derived Compact US Wide platform that underpins the Dart, and that hardly sounds like a recipe for a Rubicon Trail destroying off-road monster.
