JaMarcus Russell hasn't played in the NFL since 2009. He currently weighs more 300 pounds. And, the only headlines he's made in recent years have stemmed from his illegal use of codeine syrup. But, despite all of that, Russell just came out and revealed that he wants to try and make a comeback in the NFL next season. Stop laughing. We're serious!

"My first year out, I couldn't watch football," he said recently, "but after a while, I couldn't keep the TV off. I got that itchy feeling but now I gotta watch it, gotta watch. The last few years, the things going through my life, football is my job and it is how it feeds my family. People would say [that] I didn't really love the game but that pisses me off. People don't know the real you but I want people to know the real me and see what I can do. People are always saying that I'm a busy. I want to show them I'm not. I'm committed to this now."

Now? NOW?! NOW?!?!?!? Sigh. We respect a guy trying to right his wrongs, and we sincerely wish Russell the best. But, we're pretty sure it's too late for him to make an impact in the NFL now. That doesn't mean he shouldn't try and get involved with it again, though. His story is unique and, if nothing else, he could probably help a lot of young players out there make the most of their talent by teaching them what not to do in their lives. But, JaMarcus Russell, the NFL quarterback? Yeah, those days are over.
