Saab is dead and no matter how much the brand's faithful might want to buy the planned next generation Saab 9-3 (pictured above) they can't. GM failed at retaining Oldsmobile, Saturn, and Hummer owners, and did OK at retaining Pontiac owners. Now that Saab is dead — and needlessly clubbed over the head a few times by GM — Polk did a study to see where Saab drivers are turning to now. The results are a bit surprising:
- 7.2% - Honda
- 7.0% - Volkswagen
- 6.3% - Audi
- 6.3% - Toyota
- 6.2% - Chevrolet
- 6.1% - Ford
- 6.1% - BMW
- 5.6% - Cadillac
- 4.7% - Subaru
- 4.6% - Mercedes-Benz
- 4.2% - Volvo
- 4.1% - Nissan
- 3.8% - Lexus
- 3.8% - Acura
- 3.4% - Buick
We were expecting the other innovative Swedish company, Volvo, to make a much higher showing in this list. Apparently all those years with GM have made Saab owners' tastes much more mainstream.
