It's a tough time to be a Mets fan. After a promising start to their 2012 season, they've been absolutely awful since the All-Star break. Then again, if you're a Mets fan, you're used to this kind of play by now, so it doesn't hurt so bad, does it?
If Marylou Cunningham Belles of Bethel, CT was still alive, she'd be just fine. But, she died a couple weeks ago and, in her obituary, her family was sure to make mention of the fact that, in spite of her lifelong devotion to the Mets, that's not what killed her.
"Marylou Cunningham Belles, of Bethel, CT, died July 13th, 2012, after giving cancer the finger for 27 years," the obit said. "Since the 13th fell on a Friday, it was a perfect day for the Stephen King fan she was. She was born in Malone, NY to the late Ruth and John Cunningham, and graduated from Potsdam High School in Potsdam, NY. She loved cats, and shared her life with four rescues from Save a Sato. She was also a lifelong Mets fan though surprisingly, that wasn't what killed her…"
Best obituary ever? Well, that's definitely up for debate. But, it's damn good. And, as a Mets fan, it gives me a lot of hope. This team may hurt me…but it won't kill me. Great to know!
