I'll Have Another Has Been Ruled Out of the Belmont Stakes This Weekend

So much for the Triple Crown.

None

Are you packing up the car right now and getting ready to head up to Belmont, N.Y. to see I'll Take Another attempt to win the Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes this weekend? Then, we've got some news for you: You need to STOP IMMEDIATELY and start unpacking. According to I'll Have Another's trainer Doug O'Neill, the horse will not be racing at the Stakes on Saturday.

"I'll Have Another is officially out of the Belmont," O'Neill said on The Dan Patrick Show just a little while ago. "It's not tragic, but it's a huge disappointment."

Guess that trip to Belmont will have to wait another year.

[UPDATE: During a press conference early this afternoon, O'Neill explained that I'll Have Another has a leg injury that forced him to shut the horse down for the Belmont Stakes. He also announced that, because of the leg injury, I'll Have Another will retire, effective immediately.]
