Ford has begun a partnership with Dow Chemical to create methods by which they can create carbon fiber components for cars at a reasonable price. By the end of the decade Ford wants to cut 750 lbs from all of its cars.

This is obviously a fantastic goal, if the price is right. Losing that much weight would drastically reduce fuel consumption while increasing performance and handling. The future is looking bright after all.
