Established in 2008, the 718 Cyclery in Brooklyn has picked up the nickname of the "Inverted Bike Shop" for their nearly unheard of practice of letting customers into the build area of the shop. Offering what they call a "collaborative build," 718 Cyclery is dedicated to getting you the bike you want, how you want it, even allowing you build it yourself. The process of a collaborative build, as Joe, the shops owner and mechanic explains, involves varying levels of customer involvement. From scheduling a meeting with the shop to discuss what kind of bike you want, to sharing a Google Doc of your build with all its parts, the process of acquiring a 718 Cyclery bike is definitely a special experience.
