Tinashe Says Brands Should Collaborate With More Female Artists

Tinashe talks about Michael Jordan's legacy and wanting brands to collaborate with more women.

While sneaker culture embraces both men and women, it still is a predominantly male-driven industry. Most sneakers are designed for men, done in collaboration with male artists or athletes—and that's something Tinashe wants to change. In the lastest episode of Complex Sneaker Shopping the Los Angeles songstress talked about the importance of women in sneakers.

"Sneakers, historically, have been a men's shoe and that's so not the case anymore and hasn't been for a number of years," she said. "I think its super important for women to get even more behind sneaker culture and having Rihanna designing sneakers is a huge step in that direction. In fact, I think more brands should link up with females the same way there's Adidas collabs, Drake, or all these basketball player have their own collabs. I think it would be great for more female artists to be able to put their spin on things.
