The NBA Playoffs are in full swing, but on this day 20 years ago, they were just getting started. The Chicago Bulls had finished off their historic 72-10 regular season and were getting ready for a postseason run where they would ultimately capture their fourth championship ring, the first of their second three-peat. Before they could make history, MJ's sneakers needed a refresh.
After turning heads with the "Concord" Air Jordan XI during the regular season and the "Columbia" XIs in the All-Star Game, the playoffs were the perfect time for His Airness to debut the "Bred" XIs. He did so in a 102-85 first round win over the Miami Heat, which happened exactly 20 years ago today. MJ dropped 35 points and would go on to wear the "Bred" XIs for the entirety of the postseason, hence the sneaker's "Playoffs" nickname.
The "Bred" Jordan XI last released in 2012 and currently resells for an average of $533. Check out the sneakers in action for the first time ever in the clip below.
