With the release of his first Nike signature shoe looming this weekend, all eyes are on Victor Cruz, and Footwear News recently caught up with the New York Giants wide receiver to pick his brain about sneaker culture.

"I'm absolutely a sneakerhead," Cruz told the site, revealing that one time he put someone on a flight just for a pair of kicks. "I once sent a guy to Switzerland to get me a pair of shoes."

Now that's dedication. Cruz doesn't mention which sneakers they were, so it could have been any of the heat he showed us during the most recent episode of Complex Closets.

Elsewhere, Cruz touched on the traits that define a sneakerhead: "A sneakerhead is someone who throughout their life has paid attention to how shoes fit, look and feel when worn, someone who also takes the time to get to know the backstory that defines and helped create the shoe," he said.

Look out for the Air Trainer Cruz to make its debut in a "Haystack" colorway this weekend and be sure to peep his insane sneaker closet in the clip below if you haven't already — there's some heat you definitely won't want to miss.
