Nike Air Max 2016

Since its debut, the Nike Air Max series has always been centered around the eye-catching visible air design. While originally created for performance and comfort, visible air has transcended into one of the most recognizable design elements in all of footwear. As expected, early looks of the Air Max 2016 come equipped with the classic visible Air-Sole Unit, but this particular colorway skips that detail.

As Nike Blog points out, the absence of the visible Air-Sole Unit forces us to focus on the gradient blue upper, which is stylish enough to hold its own. Of course, this sneaker still features a full-length Air-Sole Unit within the silver mid-sole, but takes it back to the pre-1987 days by keeping it hidden. Leave it to Nike to manage to introduce a new design by eliminating the very detail that made it popular.

No word on a release date yet.
