After quietly taking his career to China a few years ago, Stephon Marbury has found himself in the spotlight again, and it's not about his play on the court. He made headlines last week after announcing the return of his inexpensive Starbury sneaker line. In the days following his announcement, he has been responding to those who laughed off the idea of his sneakers becoming popular. He even went as far as to suggest that his $15 sneakers can help reduce the violence that often follows $200 Air Jordans.

In a series of tweets, Marbury expressed his frustrations with the current state of sneaker violence and prices, by calling Jordan Brand "greedy" and referencing the historic Sports Illustrated "Your Sneakers Or Your Life" cover

 

It remains to be seen whether Starburys can gain traction in the sneaker industry this time around, but their return is already sparking conversations that are important for average people and big brands to discuss.
