These days, it's pretty common to see people kicking back in a cozy pair of Nike slides, but what you may not have realized is that Nike's been killing the sandal game for decades. Now, the crew at NikeLab are using a 1993 ACG model known as the Air Deschutz as inspiration on its next release.

The NikeLab Air Solarsoft Zigzag is part sneaker, part sandal and borrows design cues from both the Air Deschutz and 1989's Aqua Sock. Up top, woven support straps composed of synthetic suede hold you down while a cushy dual-density Solarsoft midsole softens the blow. At the heel, a Nike Air unit is added for even more comfort. Finally, an Aqua Sock-inspired outsole provides serious traction, which means you'll be able to do a lot more than just lounge around the house in these.

The Air Solarsoft Zigzag will be available beginning July 23 from NikeLab online and select NikeLab locations. However, judging by the sounds of this caption, U.S. 'heads may have to wait awhile longer for a release.
