Aside from May's Saucony "Pattern Recognition" Pack, it's been a relatively quiet year for collabs from Boston's Bodega. However, the mood is about to shift as the boutique has united with adidas Originals for a movie-themed take on one of its most popular silos.

The Bodega x adidas ZX Flux is inspired by Stanley Kubrick's seminal 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey. The tale of exploration and existentialism serves as the groundwork for these Fluxes, which make use of a stealthy black based upper with hits of bright orange and yellow. In the clip below, you'll see that the front end of the upper has been given a reflective 3M treatment to further emphasize the space theme.

These are set to release exclusively at Bodega in store and online on July 18, although a more widespread launch will hit select adidas retailers the following week.

UPDATE (July 15, 5:20 p.m.):

Just days ahead of the release, Bodega have officially unveiled its adidas ZX Flux collaboration. Lifting the palette used by Stanley Kubrick in 2011: A Space Odyssey's visuals, the Boston boutique have re-imagined the ZX Flux to represent the film's art direction.

The Bodega x adidas ZX Flux is built around a black woven upper with reflective yarn throughout, while a suede tongue and heel keep the aesthetic balanced. A speckled white midsole and hits of orange and yellow signify the spaceships and suits worn by the film's voyagers. Finally, the package is rounded out with discreet Bodega branding on the tongue and heel and three sets of laces.

Retail is set at $120, with an initial launch happening exclusively at Bodega on July 18. A wider release will follow at adidas Consortium accounts.
