Since its return in early 2014, there have been countless colorways and styles of the adidas Stan Smith, but few were able to embody the sneaker's minimal aesthetic the way that Barneys, Dover Street Market, and Colette's high-end updates did.
Now, Barneys is moving onto a new shade with these black Logo-Stamped Stan Smiths. As part of the store's 2015 Sole Series collection, this black colorway is exclusive to Barneys New York. It features the same stripped down design and premium materials as the white pair with an updated monochrome black upper.
Barneys buyer Chris Pepe, the man responsible for the Sole Series collection, says the Sole Series Stan Smith is unique because of its asymmetrical design. "The traditional Stan Smith has perforations on both sides to represent the adidas stripes, but ours only has the perforation on the medial side," Pepe said.
