From senseless violence to more recent events like the looting and destruction in Baltimore, sneaker culture is plagued with its share of negativity. We've waxed poetic about the topic, but this clip may be the most powerful statement we've seen yet.

'The Shoes' is a memorable story about the highs and lows of sneaker culture. The clip takes you from the long hours and steady grind of trying to acquire that rare pair to finally walking into the store and copping, only to be met with a less than fortunate ending.

We don't want to give too much away, but this video definitely does a great job of explaining just why we spend so much time obsessing over kicks.

It's also worth mentioning that this was written by Oregon Ducks linebacker Carlyle Garrick and features clips filmed in the Duck's Matthew Knight Arena. Considering Oregon's storied association with Nike, we have to wonder how the Swoosh will feel about the tone of this one.
