Saying that DyMe-A-DuZin has accomplished a lot for a (barely) 21-year-old would be a huge understatement. But this rising star has been ahead of the game pretty much his whole life. After being inspired—and subsequently mentored—by a gospel rapper he saw perform in church one day, DyMe wrote his first song at the age of 11. He then went on to make his first music video at 14, and get signed by Warner Bros. Records at 19. Imagine where he’ll be by the time he’s 25.

But no matter how far he’s come, DyMe-A-DuZin never forgets where’s from. “Brooklyn is everything,” he says. “Brooklyn made me who I am.” His home borough has influenced everything from his vernacular and flow to his sense of style to essentially how to live, period.

For more on all things DyMe-A-DuZin, including insight into the 18-month recording process for his recent mixtape, A Portrait of Donovan, and his favorite kicks, be sure to check out the premiere episode of Next Starts Now above.
