Long-running skateboarding brand Etnies is doing their part to contribute to a healthier planet. Since 2011, the Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree initiative has been helping with reforestation in Costa Rica and Brazil. To date, the team has planted over 200,000 trees throughout the area. For 2013, the ultimate goal is to plant another 200,000, this time in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Etnies has selected seven models as part of the Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree collection, including four adults and three kids models. Featured in the collection are the Jameson 2, Jameson 2 Eco, Dory, Dapper, Caprice Eco, and kids versions of the Jameson 2 and Jameson 2 Eco. The way it works is that Etnies plants one tree for each sneaker purchased.

Fans can keep up with the Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree progress at Etnies, including a live counter for the amount of trees currently planted.
