On Saturday at Disney's D23 expo, the cast for the eventually upcoming Guy Ritchie-directed Aladdin movie was announced.

Starring as Aladdin will be Mena Massoud (whose credits include: the looming Jack Ryan TV series), starring as Jasmine will be Naomi Scott (whose credits include: the Power Rangers movie) and starring as the genie will be Will Smith (whose credits include: lots of shit):

The announcement comes after a much-publicized search by Disney to find their titular actor, amidst reported troubles of trying to agree upon an actor who could play Aladdin without incurring the wrath that would undoubtedly follow from whitewashing the role.

Production of the film is likely to be pushed to 2018.

As for the role of that parrot Jafar, a.k.a. the main villain, that is yet to be announced. It's probably coming though.
