Much to the chagrin of dorks everywhere *gets cracked with whip by editor standing behind him* I mean Star Wars fans everywhere, the co-directors in charge of the Han Solo spin-off film have announced that they will no longer be the co-directors in charge of the Han Solo spin-off film. The news reportedly comes with just three weeks left in the shoot:

A source tells me there are three weeks left to go on the untitled Han Solo shoot. Must have been a real war for the directors to leave... https://t.co/nN389x4d9x

Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, released a statement on the matter, saying, "Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon."

Additionally Lord and Miller sent out their own joint statement to give us their own non-specific side of things. "Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project," they said. "We normally aren’t fans of the phrase 'creative differences' but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."

Lord and Miller, whose extensive resume(s) include 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie, had been signed on to do the project since July 2015. The movie has been filming in London since February. It will boast a cast of Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover and, as young Han, Alden Ehrenreich.

The release date, which is so far unaltered by this news, is May 25, 2018.
