Actress Mischa Barton, who is most known for her role from 2003-07 on the Fox series The O.C., was hospitalized for a mental evaluation Thursday morning, according to TMZ. Barton was taken in after exhibiting bizarre behavior in her West Hollywood backyard.

As TMZ reports, Barton, 31, was found hanging over her fence and rambling about random things: her mother being a witch, the David Bowie song “Ziggy Stardust,” and the world shattering.

Naturally, drugs were suspected, and sheriff’s deputies and firefighters were brought to the scene. Barton was voluntarily transported to a hospital.

The details of the incident are strange and troubling. “At one point she fell backward off the fence and said, ‘Oh my God, it's over! I feel it, and it's angry!’” TMZ reports.

TMZ also has photos of the scene, which show Barton wearing only a dress shirt and tie.

Barton does have a history of some mental health issues. In 2009, after the actress sought medical attention for a tooth infection, she ended up being held involuntarily by a psychiatrist for two weeks under an involuntary psychiatric hold, known in California as a 5150.

"If they feel you are depressed or a danger to yourself they can hold you on a 5150,” Barton said at the time. “I am terrified of needles and they wanted to pump me full of drugs and I said, ‘No, absolutely not. I don't want to be here,’ and got into a fight with the nurses, and that led to my 5150."

Barton’s current status is not known. We’re all hoping for a speedy recovery.
