Queen Latifah's car was stolen at a gas station in Georgia earlier this month, according to a police report cited byWAGA-TV Tuesday. Fulton County Police said the vehicle, a 2015 Mercedes Benz S63, was stolen at a Shell station on Fulton Industrial Boulevard on Dec. 20. Latifah was not driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The driver, according to a police report, was attempting to pump gas when a white BMW pulled up next to Latifah's Benz. The driver then "heard the vehicle ignition start and saw Ms. Latifah's vehicle speed off." Police promptly contacted Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, to inform her of the theft.
The car was later found at an apartment complex in Southwest Atlanta, where security "spotted three males near the vehicle" and a white BMW. After the vehicle was recovered, Latifah found bottles of fruit punch and lemonade apparently left behind by the thieves. At the time of publication, Fulton County Police were "still searching" for suspects.
Latifah can currently be seen in Lee Daniels' Star, a new Fox series shot in Atlanta. "Sometimes we see these girls literally go off into a thought and it turns into a full-on music video and it comes back to real life," she told Ryan Seacrest of the series, which centers on three singers making their way through the perils of the music business, earlier this month. "So the way it was shot was really cool. It's very gritty in the real life parts, and it can just go off into this fabulous and glamorous, amazingly impossible musical for a few minutes and come back." The series returns Jan. 4, 2017.
