Following the death of beloved actor and game show host Alan Thicke, Leonardo DiCaprio has shared a touching tribute to his Growing Pains costar. Thicke, who played Dr. Jason Seaver on the popular '80s sitcom and recently appeared in Netflix's Fuller House, suffered a fatal heart attack Tuesday.
"Alan was a devoted father, husband, friend and role model," DiCaprio wrote on Facebook Wednesday morning. DiCaprio, as true Growing Pains heads already know, joined Thicke on Growing Pains during its final season. The late actor, DiCaprio said, was a "positive influence" on many lives and had kept in touch with him since their TV collab ended in 1992.
"I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Alan early in my career," DiCaprio said. "He had tremendous class, a huge heart, and he taught me and so many others the valuable lessons about humility and gratitude. I've seen him a number of times over the years and when Alan Thicke walked in the room, quite frankly, no one was cooler. I miss him already. my thoughts and prayers are with the entire Thicke family during this difficult time."
In an Instagram note shared Tuesday night, Robine Thicke thanked everyone for their support during a difficult time for his family. "My Father passed away today [sic]," he said. "He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had. Let's all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love."
