Robert De Niro addressed his previous publicly declared desire to punch a certain Republican leader in the face on Wednesday night, telling Jimmy Kimmel he can no longer go through with that but is still wholly disappointed with the direction the country is taking. De Niro joked, however, that he's holding out hope for someone else to do what he no longer can.

"I'm not feeling good," De Niro told Kimmel, who followed up with a punch inquiry. "I can't do that now. He's the President. But, you know, I have to respect that position though we all know what he…We have to see what he's going to do and how he's really going to follow through on certain things. As we even see now in a lot of cities, there's a lot of people getting very upset and protesting."

Kimmel then referenced President Barack Obama's comments on Republicans' Electoral College victory, prompting De Niro to joke about POTUS himself delivering a punch. "Maybe he will when he sees him tomorrow," De Niro joked.

In a video collaboration with Anonymous Content back in October, De Niro delivered a passionate message against the (now) President-elect's rhetoric of division. "He's so blatantly stupid," De Niro said at the time. "He's a punk. He's a dog. He's a pig. He's a con, a bullshit artist, a mutt who doesn't know what he's talking about. Doesn't do his homework. Doesn't care. Thinks he's gaming society. Doesn't pay his taxes. He's an idiot. Colin Powell said it best, he's a national disaster. He's an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry that the country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has. He talks about how he wants to punch people in the face? Well, I'd like to punch him in the face."
