The cast of The Walking Dead wasn't lying when they told fans to grab their loved ones and a blankie before tuning into the season 7 premiere on Oct. 23. In just 60 minutes, the AMC series managed to hit fans with a barrage of emotions in what may be the most explosive season opener yet.

Die-hard fans tuned into the insane season premiere, live-tweeting every moment. Last season left viewers on the ultimate cliffhanger, contemplating the fate of one (or many) of the members from Rick Grimes' crew, who got their head bashed in by the hand of evil ringleader, Negan and his barb-wired bat, Lucille. And at the show's beginning, fans questioned whether they were ready for what was going to happen. "Not even mentally or emotionally prepared for this," one fan tweeted shortly after the big reveal. "I don't think I'm emotionally ready for #TheWalkingDead," another viewer chimed in.

And they definitely weren't ready. When Abraham's death was finally revealed, followed by Glenn's, Twitter pretty much lost it. But unfortunately, that wasn't the end of Negan wreaking terror on the people of Alexandria. As the show progressed, Negan's devilish tactics continued to send fans into a deeper state of turmoil and distress. Here's just how emotional things got for Twitter during The Walking Dead's season premiere.
