Marvel says the recent rumors of a 'Blade' x 'Underworld' crossover are overblown, but that doesn't mean another 'Blade' is out of the question.

Marvel has a lot on its plate, what with routinely bagging hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office and all. But is there still room for a freshBlade movie? Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige sure thinks so, even if he was forced to reveal that desire while simultaneously shooting down the recent spat of rumors surrounding an "imminent" revival of the franchise in the form of an Underworld crossover.

"They did ask a long time ago and I think our answer was, 'No, we'll do something with Blade at some point,'" Feige said at a Doctor Strange sneak peek Monday, Playlistreported. "That's still the answer. We still think he's a great character. He's a really fun character." Though Feige was understandably short on specifics, he did note that the possibilities surrounding Blade revival methods are practically limitless.

"We think this movie going into a different side of the universe would have the potential to have him pop up, but between the movies, the Netflix shows, the ABC shows, there are so many opportunities for the character to pop up as you're now seeing with Ghost Rider on AGENTS of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Feige said. "Rather than team up with another studio on that character, let's do something on our own."

Whisperings of a new Blade, with or without OG star Wesley Snipes, have been a relatively routine occurrence in recent years. Snipes himself toldDeadline back in July 2015 that he had chatted up something Blade-related with Marvel but couldn't really provide any firm details. "I don't know where it's on their schedule at this point, that hasn't been decided," Snipes said at the time. "I guess it's still up in the air."
