Fresh from their successful, and insanely controversial, new comedy film Sausage Party, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are delivering a new comedy show based on video games exclusively for Hulu.
Dubbed Futureman, the show will star The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson who’s character is described as 'socially inept', leading a double life as a janitor and a world-ranked gamer. His life is turned upside down when he must prevent the extinction of mankind "after mysterious visitors from the future declare him to be the key to defeating the imminent super-race invasion". From the sounds of it, it pretty much bares the hallmarks of a typical Seth Rogen/Evan Goldberg production, so expect plenty of crude jokes and pot references.
'Futureman', which has been in development since February, will be written by 'Sausage Party' and The Night Before’s Ariel Shaffier and Kyle Hunter. This will be Rogen and Goldberg’s first ever half-hour comedy show, furthermore they'll be directing the pilot episode. However they're no strangers to producing quality TV shows, as proven by the excellent Preacher series.
No trailers have been released yet but the 'Futureman' Twitter account did provide this image of Hutcherson.
The 13-episode sitcom is expected to debut next year.
