Sky Sports have announced today that they will be the official broadcasters of the Drone Racing League, which will begin next month.

The lucrative $1 million deal will see the thrilling world of drone racing launched on the Sky Sports Mix channel. DRL is seen as the leading force in First Person View (FPV) drone racing, it features top pilots flying customised drones, that have been hand built to their individual specifications, through intricate 3D race tracks which have been compared to real life video games.

As part of Sky and DRL’s distribution deal live events will be broadcasted to the UK and Ireland, through ten, one hour episodes. The 2016 season will cover five races culminating in a winner-takes-all championship, it will also serve as an introduction into the fascinating world of Drone Racing which has grown in popularity over the last few years.

Furthermore Sky Sports and the DRL will also be working with London & Partners to bring an official DRL race, which will be the first professional drone race in the UK, to a London venue.
