Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reportedly reached a temporary divorce agreement. The deal was recommended by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), TMZreported Friday. The deal, set to last for three weeks, involves random drug and alcohol tests for Pitt and a variety of counseling services for the entire family.
Sources tellTMZ that DCFS officials recommended the agreement, giving Pitt and Jolie the options of either duking it out in court or simply following the terms of the temporary custody deal. The deal, agreed upon by both parties Friday, awards full physical custody of the former couple's six children to Jolie. Pitt will retain visitation rights but must be accompanied by a therapist who can then recommend that future visits be unmonitored or similarly supervised.
Pitt, who reportedly already took and passed a voluntary drug test, will be subjected to random drug and alcohol tests during the three-week arrangement. According toTMZ, Jolie "believes" Pitt has a weed and alcohol problem. The focus of this temporary agreement is to "heal" the family, a source says. At the end of the three-week agreement, DCFS officials are expected to evaluate the situation and make a call as to whether the courts should get involved.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt earlier this month, citing "irreconcilable differences" and requesting full custody of their six children. "This decision was made for the health of the family," Jolie's attorney, Robert Offer, toldHarper's Bazaar in a statement. "She will not be commenting and asks that the family will be given its privacy at this time."
