Cult classic gang film The Warriors is getting adapted into a television series.Deadlinereported the 1979 Walter Hill film adapted from Sol Yurick's novel of the same name will become an hour-long drama series for Hulu and Paramount TV.

The Russo brothers—Anthony and Joe, a.k.a. the directors behind Marvel's immensely successful Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War—will direct the series pilot. But it's unknown if they will be directing more than just the pilot. Besides being set to direct Marvel's highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Part II the Russos, as we reported in May, will executive produce a comedy about a family selling pot for Showtime.

Even if you haven't heard of The Warriors or haven't seen it, you've heard quotables from the movie "Can you dig it?" or "Warriors, come out to play." The Warriors follows the titular Warriors gang as they chase safety after being framed for killing a rival gang leader during a meeting of all New York City gangs. "Between them and safety stand 20,000 cops and 100,000 sworn enemies," the original trailer for The Warriors said. And to make matters worse, the Warriors are a long way from home, all the way in the Bronx from their home turf in Coney Island.

No word on the casting for the TV adaptation yet. According toDeadline, the adaptation will "honor the original film while adding its own unique brand of grit, pulp, sex and violence."
