Stephen Colbert wants a piece of the Pokémon Go action. On Monday's Late Show, our guy Colbert announced his own entry into the world of collectable creatures while surely maddening staunch Pokémon fans all over the world. Not up on the forthcoming TrobGobs trend? Get familiar, lames.
"For those of you that don't know, this new thing, it's a video game where you walk around and you look at your phone," Colbert explained to an audience that was likely muttering "duh" in unison. "In the real world, you see little Pokémon. It has revolutionized the way people almost get hit by cars staring at their phones." Sick burn, Stephen.
"It's called augmented reality because, right now, anything is better than actual reality," Colbert added, effectively capturing the mood of the planet. However, as Colbert noted, some Pokémon Go players have started complaining about things like "fatigue" and "sore legs" thanks to this new thing called "walking." But the Late Show team has an answer: TrobGobs.
TrobGobs, despite the mysterious presence of an unexplained "b" in its name, is short for "Trouser Goblins." Cool, Stephen. We will gladly catch them all, thus avoiding potentially perilous Pokémon Go encounters such as this:
