That magnificent bastard we call nostalgia is cutting some serious checks this year. Following in the very wise footsteps of Nickelodeon's The Splat programming block that's packed to the brim with retro classics, MTV has announced the launch of MTV Classic. The fresh channel, a rebranding of VH1 Classic, will focus on an "eclectic mix" of all your favorite 1990s-era MTV shows.

Cerebral '90s gold like Beavis & Butt-Head, Daria, and Æon Flux are set to make appearances on MTV Classic. Fittingly, the rebrand will officially be put into motion 35 years to the day that MTV debuted on Aug. 1. How's that for an assault on your (nearly exhausted) nostalgic senses?

"MTV Classic gives audiences a modern and artful home for classic MTV programming and—alongside MTV, MTV2, MTV Live and mtvU—rounds out a diverse portfolio with music and youth culture at its core," Sean Atkins, President of MTV, said in a press release Thursday. But don't fret if you're somehow a blasphemous non-fan of the confirmed classics listed above. MTV Classic is also set to hit us with more musical fare such as Total Request Live and MTV Unplugged, while dipping its toes in the early 2000s with Laguna Beach and Clone High.

But that's not all. If all of that somehow isn't enough to help you fully submerge yourself into an alternate universe of permanent euphoria, MTV Classic will also be airing a ton of era-appropriate movies, concerts, and music videos in between the antics of Beavis & Butt-Head and the deadpan delight of Daria.

Just be careful out there. Nostalgia is a hell of a rabbit hole.
