UPDATE 06/18/16 6:17 p.m. ET: Jeff Schaffer, who directed and executive produced a heavy helping of classic Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes, spoke with the Hollywood Reporter Friday and shared some pretty, pretty good news on the series' return. "It won't be long," he said. "Geologically speaking, it'll be a blink of an eye." According to Schaffer, all of the original cast sounds pretty down for more Curb. Schaffer also confirmed that the current plan is to do a full 10-episode season. Rejoice.

Rare good news for all us social assassins: Larry David, after years of toying with the hearts of fans all over the world, has finally decided the time is right for more Curb Your Enthusiasm. HBO announced Tuesday that the iconic series would return for a long overdue ninth season, with additional details to be announced shortly.

"We're thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can't wait to see what he has planned," Casey Bloys, president of programming at HBO, said in a press release. As for David's thoughts on Curb's glorious return, well, we'll just leave them here in full for proper consumption:

"In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned.'"

Maybe LD will take a page or two from our season 9 proposal?

For those who bizarrely choose to abstain from enjoying quality television, Curb centers on the endless faux pas of life as (a slightly fictionalized version of) Seinfeld co-creator Larry David. The critically revered series' eighth season wrapped in 2011, kicking off a solid five years of speculation that included rumors of a movie and the overwhelming sense that the show might never return at all.

But that's all behind us now. Welcome back to TV, Curb Your Enthusiasm. We need you out here.
