Quick question: What's the best way to silence all the lames still mad about the new Ghostbusters crew? Enlist the original 'busters of apparitions for a massive Jimmy Kimmel Live takeover, of course. Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Melissa McCarthy dropped by Kimmel HQ Wednesday to chat with the originators of supernatural comedy about, you know, busting ghosts and what not.

"What they don't say when they're typing is that one minute after they type that, their moms are like, 'Get upstairs and take out the garbage! You're 45 years old!'" McCarthy joked of the often sexist comments hurled at the stars of Paul Feig's new film. Bill Murray, resident provider of endless whimsy in both film andreality, also had some words for the haters.

"It was only because I knew these girls were funny," Murray said, referencing his initial reluctance to agree to a cameo in the new film. "When you see the film, you'll delight in the film. This is a tough movie to pull off because it's a tough concept, and Danny [Aykroyd] and Annie [Potts] and Ernie [Hudson] and I were cheering like we were at a sporting event at the end of it."

Murray and the original cast also reminisced about shooting the original films in New York City, revealing they largely ignored the need for film permits. "We stole," Murray remembered. "We had these uniforms on with these electronic things on, these guns, and we were walking into stores on 57th Street and saying, 'We're going to have to look at some of this stuff,' and just walking out. It was crazy."

Kimmel even managed to get Ray Parker Jr., the guy behind the classic Ghostbusters theme song, to drop in and provide the perfect soundtrack to which Ghostbusters old and new could have a proper dance-off:
