Johnny Depp has been at the center of controversy since his estranged wife Amber Heard brought domestic abuse allegations against him. Some fans have called for a boycott of Depp movies in light of the allegations, while Walking Dead star Laurie Holden defended him in a divisive tweet, saying she'd be seeing his movies regardless. Vanessa Paradis, the mother of Depp's two children and the movie star's partner for 12 years, has also weighed in, wholeheartedly defending Depp against Heard's claims.

TMZ obtained a letter reportedly from Paradis that invokes Depp's "sensitive and loving" character to refute Heard's claims. "I believe with all my heart that these recent allegations being made are outrageous," she writes.

Lori Anne Allison, who was married to Depp from 1983 to 1985, also defended Depp amid the allegations, saying that he is a "soft person" and that he never even raised his voice.

Heard has alleged that Depp was "verbally and physically abusive" throughout their relationship. According to court documents, Heard said, "I endured excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him." She claims that Depp has issues with drugs and alcohol and cited an incident after her birthday celebration in April when Depp grabbed her by the hair and shoved her to the floor.

As per a temporary restraining order that will hold "at least" until next month's hearing, Depp is required to stay 100 meters away from Heard. Depp is doing promotional work in Europe currently, and Heard has been allowed to reside in the former family home.

Also among those close to Depp who are speaking out on his character is his model/actress daughter, Lilly Rose-Depp, who didn't specifically reference Heard's abuse allegations against her father, but did post this photo of him to Instagram with the caption, "My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know, he's been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same ❤️."

Representatives for Depp, Heard, and Paradis did not immediately return Complex's request for comment.

UPDATE (5/29/16 4:30 p.m.): This post has been edited to reflect Lily Rose Depp’s comments regarding her father.
