Scoring the publicly declared endorsement of real-life celebrities and other prominent individuals is cool and all, but sometimes a particularly contentious election year requires the shrewd political prowess of people who don't actually exist. Enter Homer Simpson, beloved father and accomplished beer consumer, who utilized the very special The Simpsons episode "Simprovised" to reveal he’s definitely feeling the burn often associated with the Bernie Sanders campaign.
"There are a lot of people who want me to move out of Springfield already," Homer told a caller during the groundbreaking live portion of the West Coast broadcast, shooting down rumors he would flee to our friends up north in the event of a Donald Trump presidency. "But I don't think Canada will welcome me." Never one for restraint, Homer plowed forward with additional commentary on the current state of American politics.
"That's why I'm for Bernie Sanders," the storied political commentator added. "I love his chicken. But out of respect, we should refer to him as the Colonel." Homer, of course, has clearly mistaken the Democratic presidential candidate for Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken now portrayed by a seemingly never-ending series of comedians. Though surely a victory in incidental KFC marketing, the esteemed connoisseurs of chicken did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.
But Homer didn't just gift the West Coast viewing audience with some exclusive thoughts on 2016 America. During the live East Coast portion of Sunday's episode, Homer "proved" the show was live by offering up his thoughts on Drake's Saturday Night Live stint:
Whenever Homer decides to stop mucking about, maybe he'll finally hop into the stranger-than-fiction political arena himself.
